There will be a lot of talk lately concerning the new breed of senior retirement communities. This may be because there are so many people either retiring or on the point of retire or retired already. It’s hard to watch TV for any amount of time at all without seeing a commercial for a senior dating service or a new retirement community that just opened its doors. They are the people who made the media into the gigantic commercial organization that it’s in fact it is no small wonder that as an organization, seniors are increasingly being targeted by progressively more ads every day.
There is nothing wrong with that way of thinking; it’s just that if you are a child boomer right now, you’ve got a virtually unlimited set of choices about how you will spend your retirement years.
There are a large numbers of senior communities being built in many locations across the country and they are all looking for residents as well. And while there are a great number of baby boomers, there isn’t an inexhaustible way to obtain people and there will come a time when you will see too many choices and not enough visitors to choose them
But, happily, that is not the way it is right now, and it is till a buyer’s market as far as retirement choices.
Used to be in recent years past, that there were only a few places people considered moving to when they retired. Arizona and Florida and that has been about it. But now, if you want to, you can move to retirement communities in Oregon, Kansas as well as Montreal. You can find so many baby boomers that are at the retirement age that new communities for the seniors are being developed in places where nobody thought anybody would like to live.
The fact is, that this Baby Boomer generation is that group who are used to getting their very own way. And now they have the money to back it up plus they want to live in retirement communities in places besides the south or the southwest and the smart real estate developers are listening to the amount of money talking.
Senior retirement communities are section of the culture now. People want to spend their retirement years with others of the same age who think like they do. Nothing wrong with that idea and based on the way things are going, it will be that way for a long period to come.
